Goals for the Week (continued from last week):
- I can explain why a reader uses direct quotes from a text to reach a logical conclusion.
- I can explain how an author uses reasons to support particular points in a text.
- I can explain how an author uses evidence to support particular points in the text.
- There will be a Spelling Test on THURSDAY this week due to the holiday parties on Friday- Spelling Test #16.
- We will be taking our nonfiction comprehension test this week! This is the district assessment. It will be given during blocked classes this week. It reviews all of the standards we have been working on with nonfiction (main idea, details, summarizing, finding claims, evidence)
- We will have a spelling worksheet to complete on Monday to practice.
- Vocabulary Squares will be coming home on Wednesday for practice.
- There will be a vocabulary quick quiz on Friday over words with the root "en, em, in, im"
- A reading log is due on December 20th.
To Do:
- Study spelling list week 16. Click here to practice on Spelling City. This week, all of the spelling words are contractions. Due to the craziness of the Friday before break, all spelling tests must be taken by Thursday. The students may choose to take their test as soon as they feel ready (even on Monday!).
- Study Vocabulary for the Week! We are practicing the prefix en, em, in, im which all mean in, into, or with. You can practice them here!
- Remember to take AR quizzes! Our homeroom competition is close! Remember, that quizzes with high scores will help our homeroom totals and lower scores will hurt totals! Be sure you are ready for your quizzes when you take them!
- Practice on Scootpad.com Each student has been given an account! This is an excellent and fun way to practice the new Common Core Standards in math and language arts that we are working on in class.
I hope you all have a Happy Holiday Break!! Remember to read and work on Scootpad! Have a fun and relaxing time off!
