4th Graders and Parents:
Third quarter comes to an end this Friday! Time is flying by! We are in full review mode in language arts to start reinforcing the skills we have worked on this year. We are now practicing "reading like a testmaker". This is going to help the students become analytical thinkers to provide a clearer understanding of what questions are asking of us and to be able to assess our own responses for clarity and strength of evidence. The students are doing a fabulous job with this!
To help reinforce our word study skills that we have been practicing this year, spelling will be changing for fourth quarter. Please see the copy of the letter below that went home on Friday. Students can still practice their words on Spelling City by clicking here!
There will not vocabulary words this week to study. We will resume those starting fourth quarter.
The students will also be taking their end of the quarter assessment this week and we will continue to review main idea, cause and effect and nonfiction text features using our Storyworks magazine.

The following letter went home Friday:
Dear 4th Grade Parents and Students:
Spelling for 4th Quarter will be changing a little bit in order to help us review skills for the year. Instead of having 20 words, we will now only have 12. With these words, the students will be tested on definitions of the words and also be practicing a word study skill. The students will be tested on the spellings, definitions, and word study skill for the 12 words on Friday.
The students will be given a new list each Friday to begin studying. They will also be given practice pages to complete for homework as well throughout the week.
We will have our first new spelling test on Friday March 21st. The new words will be coming home today, as well as the practice page/s.
Tests will still be given on Spelling City and the lists are visible for students to begin practicing.
Our first list of words is below:
Please email me if you have any questions!
