This week we will be starting one of my favorite literature units- Greek Myths! The first part of this quarter we will be comparing and contrasting themes, setting, character traits, and plot elements in stories. We will be building up our schema with Greek Myth characters and their stories. We will even be checking out an example of a legend story on Thursday!

Goals for the Week:
- I can understand the words that may be come from characters found in myths.
- I can compare and contrast similar themes and events in stories, myths and traditional literature from different cultures
- I can identify and use commonly confused words. (homophones)
Assessments for the Week:
- There will be a Spelling Test on Friday- Spelling Test #10
- There will be a vocabulary quick quiz on Friday
- We will take a grammar quiz next week over the homophones too, to, two and there, their, they're
- Reading Logs are due on Friday! We have finished practicing green and yellow thinking strategies and are ready to try RED thinking!
To Do:
- Study spelling list week 10. Click here to practice on Spelling City. This test will be on November 1st.
- Study Vocabulary for the Week! We are practicing the roots- mono, bi, du, and uni. You can practice them here!
- Continue to take AR quizzes! Our homeroom competition has begun! Students took STAR tests last week and were given suggested AR book levels. Students do not have to read within the suggested range, but they should always try and challenge themselves by reading books they enjoy that may fall in their suggested range.
- Practice on Scootpad.com Each student has been given an account! This is an excellent and fun way to practice the new Common Core Standards in math and language arts that we are working on in class.
