Information about our Springmyer Walk-A-Thon will be going home Friday! This is a HUGE fundraiser that our PTA puts on each year! Let's try and be the grade level with the most funds raised! It is a great event for a great cause!
In Language Arts, the students are working on their first drafts of their memoirs! They have been busy all week looking at mentor texts and examining different crafting techniques. Next week there will be NO VOCABULARY OR SPELLING due to the shortened. We will resume with vocabulary the following week. Please remind your child that book tweets are due on October 12th. Each student needs to turn in 5 book tweets by going to the book tweet link on our website (CLICK HERE TO GO TO BOOK TWEET LINK) Some of the students have been using charactercounteronline.com to help them draft their book tweets. All graded book tweets are sent to each students Google Drive. Ask your child to show them their graded book tweet sheets!
In Science, the students finished their landform and volcano projects this week. They turned out wonderful. I took pictures of everyone with their final product and hopefully we can add the pictures to the website so that you can see how adorable your children are:) While we were waiting for our work to dry, the students had additional assignments to complete throughout the week. These scores will be added onto the artwork for a final project grade. Thank you so much for sending in all the materials that made our volcano and map projects possible!
We will be moving back to Social Studies next week. We will start off the week learning about primary and secondary sources. We will then jump into a short unit on prehistoric people that lived in the Ohio area. We will be learning about Paleo Indians, Archaic Indians and the Mound Building tribes of Hopewell and Adenas.
In Math, Students are continuing to learn new strategies for solving multiplication equations. They have been using the distributive property, expanded notation, and partial products. Next week they will be learning how to multiply with regrouping. We will begin our study guide over these skills next week.
Math test over Chapter 2 standards will be tentatively set for Thurs. Oct. 1, 15.
**Please continue to work on multiplication facts each night.
Have a great weekend!
