Dear 4th Grade Families:
Just as a reminder, our Curriculum Night for 4th Grade is September 1st from 7-8PM. Please RSVP here so we can be prepare materials as needed.
The students have been working really hard this week. This week they learned about MobyMax and Typingweb, which are programs they all have accounts for on the computer. They can always work on these at home in their free time!
In language arts, reading logs have started and will be due each Friday. Please remind your child to plan when they can read for at least 20 minutes and complete a reflection for their reading. This should be done at least 4 times a week. Vocabulary and Spelling have started. Each week, we alternate between studying the vocabulary words for our Flocabulary Lists (the orange, purple or green packets) and then practice spelling them the following week. We will have a spelling test NEXT Friday over their word lists.
In math, the students will be working on their study guides for place value, addition and subtraction. The study guide will come home Thursday September 3rd. The test will be on September 10th.
In Social Studies/Science, we have just finished our first unit on map skills. The students took a test on Friday and you should be seeing those tests come home this week. I am very impressed with how well they did on this first assessment. We are now ready to switch gears to Science. We will be learning about the Earth, Sun and Oceans. We will also be able to recognize common landforms and describe the processes that created those landforms.
We hope to see you at Curriculum Night!
Thanks and have a great weekend!
Mrs. Dooley Mrs. Townsley Mrs. Criswell
