Dear 4th Grade Families-
This has a been a very busy yet short week! The Chromebook Pilot is going well! The students have been using them a lot in their classes.
In language arts, we took our first comprehension test on Schoology this week over fiction standards. The students worked very hard. We will be starting our first major writing project in class on Monday. The students will be writing their personal narratives using Google Docs. Book Tweets are due for the quarter on October 12th. All students are to complete 5 book tweets by going to the book tweet link. Book tweets that have been graded are sent to your child’s google drive. Please have your child log in to show you their grades on their completed book tweets. Any student who scores a 1 or 0 can redo their book tweet up until October 12th. I will take the 5 highest scoring book tweets. We will have a spelling test on Friday.
In science, the kids took their landforms test today. You will be seeing the results of those next week. We will begin our big projects next week. Some kids are making salt dough maps and others are making volcanoes. Thanks so much for your donations. We are still in need of a few more people to make our salt dough recipe. If you can help out with this, please email Mrs. Criswell at [email protected] and she will provide you with the simple recipe!
In math, we are reviewing basic multiplication facts. We will be learning how to multiply 2 and 3 digit numbers by one digit numbers using strategies such as partial products, lattice, and expanded form. The students took a math test this week. Please be sure to check their grade on Think Central.
Please continue to review graded papers and multiplication facts with your child.
Have a great weekend!
Mrs. Dooley Mrs. Criswell Mrs. Townsley
