Dear 4th Grade Students and Parents:
It is hard to believe that 1st quarter has come to an end! Time has just flown by! We look forward to meeting with you at conferences in a few weeks to discuss progress your child has made so far this year. Conferences are October 27th and 29th from 4:40-8:00 PM and November 4th from 4:40-7:00PM. Please sign up with your child's homeroom teacher. The homeroom teacher will discuss your child's progress in all subjects! Click here to schedule a conference.
Walk-A-Thon is this Friday! Please be sure to dress appropriately, wear sunscreen, and wear your walking shoes! Each child may and is encouraged to bring a bottle of water with their name clearly labeled on it. We will start our walking at 1:15 until the celebration assembly at 2:00.
Here is a look at what is coming up in your child's classes this week:
This week we will be moving back to Social Studies. We are going to be learning about the Historic Indians from Ohio. These include the tribes known as Ottawa, Shawnee, Seneca, Delaware, Miami, and Wyandot. We will be making comparisons between these and our prehistoric indians. The students will be researching and making powerpoint presentations about one of these tribes.
In math students will continue working on two-digit x two digit multiplication. They will be learning several methods of solving the equations. Some of the methods include partial products, distributive property, regrouping, and lattice. We will continue working on multi-step word problems. Please continue to review multiplication facts each day with your child.
In Language Arts, we will continue our work with nonfiction text features and main idea. This is a particularly challenging skill for many 4th graders! There are many review games online that students can play to keep practicing! We will take our end of the quarter nonfiction assessment on Thursday and Friday. This week is a spelling week. Be sure to practice on Spelling City. Book tweets are due today! Many students did a great job of pacing themselves and making sure to keep on them all quarter. To keep on pace, a students should be completing a book in their reading level every 2 weeks. For 2nd quarter, due to the holidays, the students will be required to complete only 4 book tweets. They will be due on December 14th!
Have a great week-
Mrs. Criswell Mrs. Dooley Mrs. Townsley
