4th Grade Students and Parents:
This week is a BUSY week for all of the students. Our Caring and Sharing collection has begun. Please consider donating change during lunch or bringing in nonperishable items to help our Springmyer Families in need. We also are collecting box tops for the grade level competition. The winning grade level gets to wear PJ's during the holiday party on December 22nd. Thursday, December 17th is our Spelling Bee at Springmyer. We are excited to say that many 4th graders qualified to participate! We wish them good luck.
Holiday parties are on December 22nd. Please keep an eye out for information regarding the party from room parents as they may need help collecting supplies for the party.
In language arts, we are finishing up our poetry unit! The students have to have selected their poem for the Poetry Slam on December 21st by Friday December 18th! There are MANY resources listed on Schoology of poems the students can look at online as well as MANY poem books in my room they can select a poem from. This is going to be a fun and exciting project for the students to end the quarter. Next week is also a vocabulary week. Packets will be due on Thursday (Red Group will have a small assignment each night to complete the packet). Reading logs are due on Friday!
In math, Your child should have brought home his/her study guide over Chapter 4, division. The division test is scheduled for Thursday Dec. 17th. Blank copies can be made from this website, or your child can see me for an extra copy. Please review the study guide with your child a little each night. If you have any questions let me know. Click here for a study guide!
Our next unit in math will be over the following skills: equivalent fractions, common denominators, simplest form, comparing, and ordering fractions. Please continue to review multiplication and division facts with your child.
In Social Studies and Science, we are finishing up ecosystems and fossils. For the last part of the quarter, we will be moving back to social studies. We will be working on Chapter 4 which covers the French and Indian War. This will bring us to the end of the quarter.
As always, thanks for your support!
